Tritex NDT will be shut from 14:00 on the 16th August 2024 until 09:00 on the 2nd September 2024 for annual shutdown. E-mails will be checked during this period and only urgent enquiries will be dealt with, but there may be some delays.
All other enquires will be dealt with after the shutdown period. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Pipelines

An extensive pipeline network exists around the world for transporting oil, gas and chemicals. A damaged pipeline will not only have a severe environmental impact but may also result in injury to personnel. Furthermore, it may also lead to long and expensive down times.

Ultrasonic thickness surveys and Inspections on pipelines can be costly and time consuming due to the sheer size of them. Using a Tritex thickness measurement gauge will dramatically reduce inspection time. The ruggedness of the gauges means that they can endure the harsh environments in which pipelines are often located.

Storage Tanks

Storage tanks can contain anything from water to chemicals to petroleum, and in each case it could be extremely damaging if an accident occurred due to excessive corrosion. Also, LPG tanks are susceptible to corrosion and require regular thickness measurements to assess their condition.

The ability of Tritex thickness measurement gauge to ignore coatings makes the inspection of large tanks quick and easy, with minimal expense. The multigauge 5500 is ideal to wear on the waist belt for rope access surveys or for climbing ladders or scaffolding.

Lighting Columns

Lighting columns are susceptible to corrosion at the base, due to splashes and ground water, and the collar (swage joint) often due to condensation built up inside the column. Regular inspection of lighting columns using a thickness measurement gauge is recommended to ensure they are maintained in good condition and are structurally safe to prevent the column from collapsing and causing possible injury.

Local governments and authorities are usually required to carry out thickness measurements on a regular basis along local roads and highway networks.

Measurements are typically taken, using a thickness measurement gauge, at four points around the circumference at different heights on the lighting column.

Road Tankers

Road tankers corrode and erode from the inside out, and regular inspections are required to prevent accidents from happening. It is usual to measure the top, bottom and sides of the tank, as well as the knuckle ends, to identify areas of thinning before accidents occur.

Inspections are normally carried out by road tanker refurbishment companies, inspection companies and also in house by large haulage companies.

As well as ignoring coatings, the Tritex thickness measurement gauge will also measure through decals stuck on the outside metal surface of the road tanker.

Bridges

All bridges have a structure based on steel frames and supports. Some are completely encased in concrete and others have the metalwork exposed. It is essential to carry out maintenance checks to assess the serviceability and structural strength of the bridge. Routine inspections vary from a 2 to 6 year cycle depending on the bridge type.

Tritex multigauges are particularly useful for measuring remaining metal thickness on bridges through the protective rust surface on weathering steel. The range of gauges cover all aspects of bridge inspection from inspecting the footings underwater to carrying out rope access surveys. The Multigauge 5700 thickness measurement gauge allows measurements to be stored the gauge so that routine inspections can be taken.

General Industry

Most factories have reserves of chemicals stored in tanks to allow them to carry out their respective processes. These are generally transferred around site using pipelines. Both the tanks and pipelines are susceptible to corrosion and can be kept in check with simple thickness monitoring using a Tritex thickness measurement gauge.

Other applications may include wear on machinery, boiler tube measurement, quality assurance, inspection of metal structures, condition monitoring of plant assets or preventative maintenance.
Inspection of refineries is essential to prevent accidents from occurring.
